“Tiktok is the most addictive app for young people in the UK, dramatically shaping their world view and sense-of-self through over-simplistic rose-tinted or apocalyptic soundbites, to say nothing of how it redirects cumulative hours of their young lives from all important real-world memory-making, learning and relationship-building. It’s worse than junk food, it's a carcinogen."

“One thing is clear: people are spending a lot more time staring at their phones than they want to."

Why Ban
TIKTOK?

Uniquely Addictive

TikTok is the most addictive app in the UK, with 73% of it's users claiming it is addictive, and an average monthly usage of 49hr 29m.
In a recent lawsuit, it was reveled that people get addicted to TikTok in just 35 minutes. It is a super-drug that is already prevalent among 16+ year olds.

Even setting aside the toxic content, the app is stealing young people's lives and attention, as though it were a drug.

Privacy & Security Risks

The platform that's hypnotising and hurting Brits is also owned by the Chinese Communist Party. This means that the data of millions of British citizens is being harvested and used to manipulate them.
TikTok has been banned in 35 countries, in the US Military since 2020, and in the UK for ministers since 2023 due to the security risks.
Why should we be okay with our citizens being drugged by a foreign power?

A Unique Toxic Personality

Every social-media has it's own "vibe". Twitter is for politics, Instagram is for fun photos, Facebook is for family. TikTok is for toxic, addictive, and harmful content.

The negative impact this is having on users is obvious: 47% of GenZ wish it was never invented.

Hidden Content

TikTok is tailored to each user, so the content that is shown to an adult is different to that of a child. Vulnerable people see content tailored to their specific situations, obscene content is intermixed with light-hearted fun, and it's difficult to tell what is harmful to who.
